AI vs. Journalism: NYT Publisher Warns of a ‘Brazen Theft’ Crisis

At the World News Media Congress in Marseille, A.G. Sulzberger, publisher of The New York Times, accused AI companies of committing “brazen theft of intellectual property” by using news content without permission or compensation. He warned that AI firms risk undermining journalism’s economic foundation, reducing incentives for original reporting, and threatening public access to trustworthy news.
