Google VP Issues Warning: Two Types of AI Startups Face Extinction Risk

Google Vice President Aparna Pappu warns that "wrapper" startups and those lacking proprietary data are unlikely to survive the evolving AI landscape. Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, she noted that companies merely providing a thin interface over existing LLMs will be eclipsed by native platform features. Success now requires building deep, vertically integrated solutions or possessing unique, high-quality datasets.
