OpenAI Crushes Covert Chinese Influence Operations

OpenAI has banned hundreds of ChatGPT accounts linked to two covert operations, likely originating from China, designed to manipulate US public tech policy. The campaigns, dubbed "Data Center Bandwagon" and "Tech and Tariffs," generated fake social media content targeting US tariff policies and claiming AI data centers hike family electricity costs. OpenAI is actively sharing these findings to help the US government identify and stop future foreign disinformation operations.
