Backed by the government, tech giants Samsung and SK Hynix are launching a massive $580 billion industrial blitz to double South Korea's memory chip capacity. The aggressive expansion targets global high-bandwidth memory (HBM) shortages. However, analysts warn that because these mega-facilities take years to build, the heavy gamble risks triggering a brutal oversupply crisis if the AI infrastructure boom cools before they open.
