Sovereign AI, Agents & Machine Customers to Reshape Public Sector

Gartner predicts that within 2-5 years, sovereign AI and AI agents will dominate public sector AI adoption, now peaking in hype. Prompt engineering is expected to go mainstream soon, while “machine customers” — nonhuman actors buying services — are forecast to gain traction by 2030. Governments are being urged to align tech innovation with public trust, build pilot projects, invest in AI skills.
