Google Funds the Blue-Collar Backbone of the Digital Economy

Google is committing $50 million through Google.org to train 300,000 American workers for skilled trades, including electricians, plumbers, and welders. Highlighting the initiative, CEO Sundar Pichai stated that America’s digital economy relies heavily on the physical infrastructure built and maintained by these professionals. The funding will support 14 labor unions and four trade associations across more than 20 states to combat the nation's severe skilled labor shortage.
