India Commits ₹4,500 Crore to Upgrade SCL Chip Facility
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the government will invest ₹4,500 crore over the next three years to modernize the state-owned Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL). This funding, part of the India Semiconductor Mission, aims to transform the Mohali-based integrated device manufacturing facility. The upgrade will significantly boost SCL's chip production capacity and establish a "tape out facility" to support chip design startups, moving the decades-old technology forward.
