OpenAI has agreed to acquire Windsurf, an AI-powered coding assistant formerly known as Codeium, for approximately $3 billion, marking its largest acquisition to date. The deal, which has not yet closed, aims to bolster OpenAI's capabilities in the competitive market for AI-driven coding tools, enhancing ChatGPT's coding functionalities. Windsurf, officially Exafunction Inc., was previously valued at $1.25 billion following a funding round led by General Catalyst.
