Tesla Secures Initial Permit Toward California Robotaxi Operations

Tesla has obtained a transportation charter-party carrier (TCP) permit from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), enabling the company to operate a fleet for pre-arranged employee transportation. This permit is a preliminary step toward launching a robotaxi service in California. However, Tesla must still acquire additional authorizations from both the CPUC and the California Department of Motor Vehicles to offer autonomous ride-hailing services to the public.
