Getaround Ceases U.S. Operations Amid Financial Struggles

On February 12, 2025, car-sharing platform Getaround announced the immediate shutdown of its U.S. operations, resulting in layoffs for nearly all U.S.-based employees. The decision stems from ongoing financial difficulties and liquidity issues. CEO AJ Lee will also step down. Getaround will continue its European services, which are currently more financially stable.
