Amazon AWS Restores Service After Major Outage Disrupts Global Websites

Amazon Web Services (AWS) resolved a significant outage on October 20, 2025, that disrupted major websites and applications worldwide, including Snapchat, Reddit, Venmo, and Zoom. The issue originated from a malfunction in the network health monitoring system of AWS's EC2 internal network in the US-EAST-1 region. While services were restored by the afternoon, some AWS services experienced delayed message processing due to a backlog.
