ByteDance Gets 1 of 7 Board Seats in New TikTok US Oversight Deal
A U.S.-China deal will structure TikTok’s U.S. operations under a new board with seven members—six Americans and one from China’s ByteDance. Americans will also control TikTok’s algorithm and U.S. user data, with Oracle running the cloud infrastructure. The deal aims to prevent a ban under the 2024 law unless ByteDance divests or significantly restructures its ownership.
