Foxconn’s AirPods Production in India Delayed Amid China’s Dysprosium Export Controls

Foxconn’s Telangana plant, which began AirPods manufacturing in April 2024, is facing production slowdowns due to a shortage of dysprosium, a rare earth metal used in high-performance magnets. The disruption stems from China's export restrictions on rare earths. Foxconn is sourcing temporary supplies and has sought government support, including an End User Certificate from India and China. Though output has slowed, production continues.
