Google Refutes Claims AI Search Features Are Hurting Website Traffic

Google's VP of Search, Liz Reid, pushed back against reports that AI-powered search features like AI Overviews are killing website traffic, asserting that total organic click volume has remained "relatively stable" year-over-year and that click quality has improved. While acknowledging that user behavior is shifting away from traditional websites, Google argues many sites—especially those offering original analysis or multimedia content—are seeing increased engagement.
