India to Mandate AI Content Labelling in Upcoming Governance Framework

India's forthcoming AI governance framework will require mandatory labelling of all AI-generated content online, aiming to enhance transparency and digital sovereignty. Inspired by China's and the EU's AI regulations, the framework will focus on synthetic media, addressing legal and ethical challenges posed by AI-altered content. Developed by MeitY and the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, the framework will involve stakeholder consultations to establish clear labelling standards.
