Microsoft to Embrace EU AI Code of Practice, While Meta Opts Out Over Legal Concerns

Microsoft President Brad Smith confirmed the company will likely sign the EU’s voluntary AI Code of Practice—part of the AI Act—to publish training-data summaries and ensure copyright compliance, aligning directly with the EU AI Office. In contrast, Meta’s Global Affairs Officer Joel Kaplan stated Meta won’t sign, citing legal uncertainties and excessive demands beyond the scope of the Act. OpenAI and Mistral have already signed on.
