PlayPraetor Android RAT Infects Over 11,000 Devices via Fake Google Play Downloads

PlayPraetor, a Chinese‑language Malware‑as‑a‑Service (MaaS) Android RAT, has compromised over 11,000 devices globally, growing at 2,000 new infections weekly. Distributed via fake Google Play Store pages promoted through Meta Ads and SMS, it leverages Android’s Accessibility Services to execute overlay attacks on nearly 200 banking and crypto apps, enabling credential theft and on‑device fraud. Europe accounts for 58% of infections, with hotspots in Portugal, Spain and France.
