Trump to Initiate US–China TikTok Deal Talks Early Next Week
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Air Force One that he plans to begin negotiations with China on a potential TikTok deal around July 7–8. He stated, “we would pretty much have a deal,” extending ByteDance’s U.S. divestiture deadline to September 17. The discussions aim to secure approval from President Xi or his delegation to spin off TikTok’s U.S. operations under American ownership.
