UK Regulator Triggers In-Depth Probe of Getty-Shutterstock Merger
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has referred the proposed merger between stock-image giants Getty Images and Shutterstock for an in-depth, Phase II investigation. The regulator rejected remedies offered by the companies, citing concerns that the deal could lead to higher prices and reduced quality for editorial and stock imagery, despite the rise of disruptive generative AI tools in the industry.
