WhatsApp is preparing to launch third-party chat integration in Europe, a major change enforced by the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). This upcoming feature will be optional for users, appearing in a new "Third-party chats" section. It will allow users to securely message people on rival services, such as Telegram and Signal, directly from within the WhatsApp app, marking a significant step toward app interoperability in the region.
