India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) plans to modernize its official data systems by embedding artificial intelligence and machine learning. Following recent baseline updates for GDP and inflation indicators, the country explores treating data as a tangible economic asset under the UN framework. A new Data Innovation Lab and a comprehensive National Statistical Business Register will also be introduced to ensure rigorous data validation and quality.
