Family Ties on Hold: Canada Halts New Parent and Grandparent Visas
Canada has temporarily paused accepting new applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) to manage overwhelming demand and reduce processing backlogs. While no new interest-to-sponsor forms are being accepted, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will continue processing existing files, aiming to grant permanent residency to 15,000 applicants in 2026. Families can still utilize the multi-entry Super Visa for long-term visits.
