Google co-founder Sergey Brin has dumped his $79 million stake in a New York City apartment fund, accepting just six cents on the dollar. The near-total wipeout comes as institutional capital flees the city’s multifamily sector following Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s newly enforced rent freeze on roughly one million rent-stabilized units, leaving landlords heavily squeezed by soaring expenses and unpaid rent.
