The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) expanded its 2022 restrictions to completely ban the import of older, legacy telecommunications and video surveillance equipment from blacklisted Chinese giants, including Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Dahua, and Hytera. Taking effect in early July 2026, the updated national security mandate targets hardware used in public safety, government facilities, and critical infrastructure to prevent potential electronic espionage.
