Tech Price Hikes Loom as AI Demands Trigger Global Memory Silicon Pinch

The CEO of Currys, Alex Baldock, warned that a global shortage of memory chips will inevitably drive up prices for laptops and smartphones later this year. The shortage stems from the AI boom and data center expansion heavily consuming the world's silicon supply. While Currys has secured stock through September to temporarily buffer the impact, impending cost inflation remains a challenge for consumer electronics.
